Jean Swindell was a lifelong friend of Darlene Lowe’s, as well as the wife of Murray Swindell, a trustee with the Edward Lowe Foundation from 2000 to 2018.
Jean was the valedictorian of Three Rivers High School and completed her bachelor’s degree at Albion College and University of Michigan. Murray and Jean were married in 1956 and eventually settled in Massachusetts after Murray accepted a job with Polaroid Company, where he worked for 20 years before starting his own consulting company.
After raising four children (Murray, Jr., Sharon, Steve, and Chris), Jean earned her master’s degree in education and went on to teach as a reading specialist. Jean was an active community volunteer and loved to play golf, read, play bridge and other card games. Lively conversation and laughter surrounded her. No topic was off limits. Above all, Jean was passionate about family and adored her grandchildren.
